Dr. Garland’s letter to clients

December 2, 2020

Dear,

The year 2020 has been a year of learning under fire, adapting to emerging circumstances and, by necessity, growth of character. We have each been called on to dig deep for strength and courage to overcome our own fears, to lead, and to do our jobs, while trying to ensure the safety of those who make our work possible. Your ongoing commitment as a client, entrusting the care of your canine and feline companions, to Shady Grove Animal Clinic is deeply appreciated. I want to take this opportunity to inform you that it has been my pleasure to serve as an associate veterinarian and as part of the health care team of your furry family members, alongside of the outstanding doctors at this practice, for the
last 10 years.

It is only after deep reflection, assessment of the current status of my personal and professional development, and the long-term needs of my family that I have made the decision to resign my position as associate veterinarian at Shady Grove Animal Clinic effective January 1, 2021.

The relationships I have formed with so many of you and your pets are near and dear to my heart. I will never take for granted the confidence you have placed in me to advise you about the health of someone you cherish and for whom you are the voice. Please know that I will continue to practice Integrated Veterinary Medicine in the Richmond area, offering acupuncture and Chinese herbal treatments. It is not my goal to compete with the reputation or services provided by Shady Grove but it is my goal to provide continuation and continuity of care to those clients with older pets, those involved in treatment for long-term health issues, or simply those who wish to continue working with me even after I have left Shady Grove.

While there are many, many great reasons to stay on and practice at Shady Grove, I have been offered an opportunity that I believe has been divinely placed in my path. This new position is with Quioccasin Veterinary Hospital as an associate, but offers me opportunities to use my unique gifts to help others in ways that are not possible in my current position. I am eager to continue my journey of personal and professional development and it is my hope that I can do so with your continued support as clients, if you so desire.

I can never really fully express in words my gratitude for my years of practice here. My leaving is bittersweet. I have prayed, meditated, counseled with others, and I genuinely feel that this is the right next step for me. Thank you for understanding and I wish each of you success in your ongoing journey. May 2021 be filled with good health for you and your families, prosperity in your business, and gratitude in your hearts.

Sincerely yours,
Carroll Garland
